While we supported the original bill and most of the language within, we can no longer support the amended version that essentially gives blanket immunity for hound hunters for injury or death to their dogs.

Comments
We support the original bill language but do not support the amended language of SSA 1 as it specifically removes animal cruelty protections for dogs used for hunting. Dogs used to hunt should be provided the same protections as non-hunting dogs.

Comments
The bill as amended would do more harm than good for animals. SSA 1 created a loophole by removing cruelty protections for dogs used for hunting. In addition, SSA1 will have a disproportionate impact for multi-generational families and their pets.
