Relating To: annual or consecutive month permits for certain overweight vehicles or vehicle combinations, creating an overweight vehicle surcharge, requiring certain motor carriers to maintain weight records, and providing a penalty.

The County opposes any further exemptions for weight limits. Despite talk of extra axles there is concern for bridges and when trucks turn corners. With the County being "Frozen" where will any extra money come from to fix the roads?

AB 678 covers raw forest products trucks weights to 98,000 lb. year round PLUS other ag commodities as well. Heavier trucks are unsafe, increasing risk of a crash being fatal. Heavier trucks accelerate deterioration of roadbed and bridges.
