The North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters represents the local unions/membership of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters in Wisconsin on state government issues. Members are employed in construction and industrial plants. The Carpenters' Union believes all working people have a right to a good job with benefits; a living wage that can support a family; security and dignity in work and retirement; a safe and secure workplace; education and training to reach our full potential.
Lobbying Interests:
The North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters participates in the state legislative and rules process on issues relating to labor standards, worker rights, employee protections, the general economic security and welfare of Wisconsin carpenters and their families. The areas of legislation and administrative rules of concern include: prevailing wage law, workers' compensation, unemployment insurance, apprenticeship and training, the bidding and awarding of public construction projects, the biennial state budget, trasportation, the state building trades collective bargaining agreement, family and medical leave law, health and safety, prison labor, the preservation of hunting, fishing and recreational opportunities.
