This is a group of parents who are concerned their children are being unfairly tarnished for life because their children are charged with a crime that is later dismissed -- yet the charge remains on CCAP forever, jeopardizing this young person's future employment and advancement, potential internships and ability to even rent apartments.Conversely, a guilty person who serves their sentence and/or pays a fine, ends up better off by having their case/charge removed from CCAP once their sentence is completed. When a charge is filed but dismissed, the charge remains on CCAP forever for an innocent person who is charged but never found guilty of a crime. Expungement should favor the innocent as much as it does the guilty which is why current law needs to be changed.
Lobbying Interests:
Change state law so that all information related to a criminal case of an individual who was under the age of 25 at the time an alleged offense occurred, can have all information related to their case removed from CCAP if charges are dismissed by the court prior to trial.
